Treatments for Male Pattern Baldness

Male pattern baldness, also known as androgenetic alopecia, is a frustrating condition affecting many men. The loss of hair is gradual and usually follows a pattern, beginning above the temples or on the crown of the head. Eventually the two areas merge, resulting in the loss of hair on the top of the head or complete baldness.
The main causes of male pattern baldness are genetic predisposition and inbalance of androgen hormones. Whilst hair loss presents no physical risk to anyone, it can adversely affect emotional wellbeing. Treatment may include oral medications such as Finasteride, micrografting, surgical hair implantation, or follicular unit extraction.
