Hair Grafts

Hair grafts are used to solve problems of balding. In a surgical procedure, hairs are taken within their follicles from parts of the head which are resistant to balding, and grafted onto bald areas. Many hundreds or thousands of grafts can be done in one procedure, until the previously bald area is satisfactorily covered. In some cases, more than one surgery is scheduled in order to achieve the desired cover. Since the part of the scalp where the hair is taken from is grown in follicles genetically resistant to hair loss, they will continue to grow hairs in their new location. Often the hairs fall out shortly after surgery, but are quickly replaced by new growth. They will then continue to produce hair in their grafted position.
