Hairline lowering procedures are performed when a person is unhappy with the look of their natural high hairline, or their hairline recedes with age.

The hairline can be lowered by using hair implants, which consists of inserting synthetic hair-like strands into the hairless area under the hairline. Another alternative is by grafting hairs from parts of the scalp where there is good hair growth. The first method is becoming less popular as the hair implants can fall out over time, and they do not look as natural as real hair grafts.The hair grafting procedure is being refined over time and produces better, more nautral results. In hair grafts, hair is excised together with its follicle from an area of the scalp which is resistant to balding, and it maintains this non-balding property in its new location. The new, lowered hairline is therefore a permanent one.
