Micrografting

Micrografting is a procedure used to restore hair in cases of hair loss or balding. Hair follicles from sections of the scalp which have hair growth are grafted onto bald areas. Surgery to restore hair to a bald area can involve hundreds or thousands of grafts until the bald area is covered. Certain parts of the head only contain hair follicles which are resistant to hair loss, and hair is only grafted using hair form these areas. When the follicles are transplanted, they retain their balding resistant quality, thus providing a permanent solution to baldness. Although hair may fall our following surgery, it quickly regrows from the grafted follicles. It then carries on growing and thickening over several months.
